Focus area 04
Learning support for children from financially disadvantaged households
After-school help, mentoring and encouragement for children who don't have support at home.
Proposed — not yet active
The problem
Children whose parents could not study themselves often have no one at home to help with schoolwork. Private tuition is expensive, so the children who most need extra help are the least likely to get it.
Who it is for
- Children in classes 1–10 from households facing financial hardship
- Children who are first in their family to reach secondary school
Proposed approach
- Small-group learning support led by trained volunteers and local tutors
- Mentoring for older students on study habits, subject choices and next steps
- Regular conversations with parents and guardians
- Strong safeguarding: sessions in open, visible spaces, never one adult alone with a child
Eligibility and participation
Guardian consent will be required for every child. Only the information needed to support the child will be collected.
